Florida PDCA member employee receives award:
"Craftsman Of The Year" awarded at PDCA PACE 2010 Annual Convention, held on Feb. 8th, 2010.
Derrick "Rick" Sisco was awarded the L.E. Travis Jr. "Craftsman Of The Year" Award. Rick was nominated and selected from numerous painting contractor employee applicants at the annual awards luncheon held in Phoenix, Az.
Derrick, employed in the family business of PDCA active member "Ken Sisco Painting,LLC qualified by meeting standards created by the awards committee. He has demonstrated the high ethics and attributes of being a skilled painter, with over 18 years of field experience, continuous education and training. This prestigious award is highly coveted by contractor members of the Painting And Decorating Contractors Of America (www.pdca.org).
Rick is a very integral member of the family owned business and has a high passion of demonstrating the "pursuit of excellence" in every project "Ken Sisco Painting" of New Port Richey, Fl. is commissioned to complete. The 25 yr. old residential and commercial painting business, services the greater Tampa Bay Area of Florida. Rick and Stephanie, along with their 2 children, reside in Holiday, Florida.

There is no such thing as a standard work week! Most states define overtime for nonexempt workers as any hours worked over 40 hours per workweek, there are exceptions. An employees assertion that overtime is due for any work over 8 hours per day is incorrect. It always pays to check with your state laws.

Currently there are over 600 licensed painting contractors in Pinellas County alone!
Pinellas County has one of the most demanding licensing boards in the state.
Some requirements for licensing consist of:
- 4 years verifiable experience in a supervisory position in the painting industry
- Credit Reports
- Background Checks
- Liability Insurance
- Bonding
- Workers' compensation
- Display of license number on all advertising and printed materials
- Continued education to maintain license
These are some of things that seperate us from your average "guy with a van and a brush".
It is up to us to see that those who want to consider themselves eligible to work along side us. Meet the same standards as we do.
